New Unity Swing at Grundy Avenue Elementary Brings Greater Accessibility to Recess

Grundy Avenue Elementary School celebrated the installation of a new Unity Swing with an official ribbon-cutting on Tuesday, joining student Easton and Sachem administrators to mark a meaningful addition to the school’s playground.
The swing provides Easton with an accessible playground experience, allowing him to swing, play and enjoy recess alongside his friends. Its installation reflects a commitment to creating inclusive spaces where all students can participate in the school day.
The American Federation of Teachers, through the Sachem Central Teachers Association, made this project possible with a $12,000 grant.
For the Grundy Avenue community, seeing Easton enjoy the new swing was a rewarding reminder of the difference that collaboration and support can make in a student’s everyday life.
